Perfect Saturday: Week 13, 2022

Good morning!

Welcome to the final week of the college football regular season. I'm not sure if my sense of time is just permanently damaged after the the craziness that was 2020, but this season has seemed to absolutely fly by. I can't believe we'll be talking about conference championship games next weekend. In order to get there, we have some massive games this weekend. Thank you so much for starting your Saturday morning off with the Perfect Saturday newsletter every week this season. Before getting to the games this weekend here are a few items that I have produced over the last week that you may have missed.

Typically I would have had a scheme session video from Tennessee's latest game as well. However, this week I figured most of my following wouldn't be interested after how their game with South Carolina transpired. If you enjoy this kind of content, and want more of it delivered right to your inbox, please consider becoming a subscriber – if you're not one already – or upgrading your subscription.

Here are a few housekeeping items before the game picks.

  • I'll host a halftime Twitter Space during Tennessee's game with Vanderbilt assuming that things are going relatively well. Watch for a Tweet from me during halftime with a link to the Space. I'll share a few observations from the first half and answer a couple of questions before we get back to the second half.
  • If you have a question about the Tennessee at Vanderbilt game that you would like me to answer please shoot it my way. Maybe you don't want to talk on the halftime Twitter Space? Or, maybe something comes up in the second half? Please send any questions to me at the following link and I'll make sure you get an answer, whether it's with a Tweet, a video, or an article.
  • I'm always looking for feedback to make this the best independent source for college football analysis. If you have any suggestions to make AB on FB better by all means let me know either at this link,, or by sending an email to Thanks again!

Last weekend was a dominant performance around here, not to brag. Our three games were decided by an average of only four points. That might be a season-low. The first pick was Illinois at #3 Michigan. Many analysts thought this game wouldn't even be close. But not you! You knew better because you read AB on FB. Illinois might prove to be the best defense that Michigan will run into all year. The Wolverines were able to connect on a late field goal after, in my opinion, getting away with a blatant offensive pass interference penalty. Their win sets up a battle of undefeated teams later today when they head to Columbus. South Alabama at Southern Miss was the late afternoon pick last week, and at a seven point margin of victory it was our worst pick of the week. Not bad! The Jaguars trailed the Golden Eagles heading into the fourth quarter, but a 14-point final frame sealed the victory. Our final pick of the day was the battle for the Victory Bell. It was a crazy back and forth affair, but USC was able to hang on in the end – not only to the win, but to their Playoff hopes as well.

I've been on an absolute roll in November. Time to keep the momentum strong to close out the regular season.
