Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Tennessee announced that the September 24th home game against Florida had completely sold out. If you want to be in attendance to watch the Gators take on the Vols it looks like your only way in at this point is to empty your bank account for a ticket on the secondary market. The game will be broadcast on CBS to a national audience. There's also an outside chance that ESPN's College GameDay could be in town considering there isn't a ton of competition to host the popular pregame show that weekend. It sure sounds like the Florida game is going to be absolutely insane.
Tennessee head football coach Josh Heupel met with local media Thursday morning for his final press conference before the Vols welcome the Akron Zips to Neyland Stadium. He was asked if he had any reaction to the exciting news about the sold out crowd for Florida. Much like his offense, Heupel made his point quickly:
Well then. Based on that response it's probably safe to say that Tennessee won't get caught looking ahead to Florida. The focus this week appears to be completely on Akron. As it should be.
At AB on FB we're not going to get caught looking ahead to Florida, either. We're going to be disciplined. We're going to be focused. We're going to keep the main thing, the main thing. We're going to go 1-0 this week. We're going to follow the example set for us by Coach Heupel.
Did that sound convincing? I hope so. It was definitely a lie. I'm thinking about Florida even while I'm typing this. Next weekend is going to be crazy...
Anyway, here's everything you need to know about the Akron Zips.
